Houla Killings - Syria - 25-05-2012 The Houla massacre was an attack that took place on May 25, 2012, in two opposition-controlled villages in the Houla Region of Syria, a cluster of villages north of Homs. State media gave accounts of some 17 civilians as having been killed. Maj. Gen. Robert Mood, head of the United Nations Supervision Mission in Syria (UNSMIS), confirmed opposition group claims that at least 90 civilians were killed, including 32 children. General Mood declared the killings "indiscriminate and unforgiveable" without explaining how they happened, but said the violence had begun Friday evening with the use of "tanks, artillery, rocket-propelled grenades, and heavy machine guns", implying involvement by government forces since the FSA do not possess heavy weaponry. The official news agency of the Syrian government alleged that Al-Qaeda terrorist groups were responsible for the killings, while opposition groups alleged that the Syrian military and government-linked militias known as Shabiha were the perpetrators. The Syrian National Council (SNC), Syria's main opposition bloc, put the death toll at more than 110 people, half of them children. Ban-Ki Moon and Kofi Annan blamed the Syrian government, accusing them of carrying out a "brutal" breach of international law. Residents say they had sent the UN a plea for help before the massacre, warning of an imminent attack by the government, but the UN monitors did not respond. The Syrian Government was condemned for its role in the massacre unanimously by the United Nations Security Council. The statement said that the attacks "involved a series of government artillery and tank shellings on a residential neighborhood" and the security council called for the Syrian Government to withdraw heavy weapons from Syrian towns.

A new key detail has emerged in the foiled underwear bomb plot: NPR's Dina Temple-Raston reports that a CIA informant posed as a suicide bomber in order to persuade the al-Qaida branch in Yemen to hand over a new, more sophisticated underwear bomb. The Los Angeles Times was the first to report the news. The paper adds that the operation was a joint effort between the CIA and Saudi Arabian intelligence and once the informant received the bomb, he "arranged to deliver the explosive device to U.S. and other intelligence authorities waiting in another country, officials said Tuesday." - WASHINGTON -- The successful blocking of an ambitious Al Qaeda plot to bomb a U.S.-bound airliner was an international sting operation worthy of Hollywood, with spies tricking terrorists into showing their cards. Saudi Arabia's intelligence agency, working closely with the CIA, used an informant to pose as a would-be suicide bomber. His job was to convince the Al Qaeda franchise in Yemen to give him a new kind of non-metallic bomb that the militants were designing to easily pass through airport security. But the double agent instead arranged to deliver the explosive device to U.S. and other intelligence authorities waiting in another country, officials said Tuesday. Violent clashes between Chicago police and anti-NATO protesters (RAW VIDEO)

Video courtesy LeakSource2012 http://www.youtube.com/user/LeakSource2012 At least 12 people were injured and 60 arrested on Sunday in Chicago after protesters clashed with police when thousands of activists took part in anti-NATO demonstrations. The riots began when the protesters tried to force their way through a police line to the site of the meeting. Protesters allegedly threw plastic bottles and paint balloons at the police, who fought back against them with batons and riot gear. Police estimated the crowd on Sunday to be 2,500 to 3,000, though it appears that many more turned out onto the streets of the city to voice their opposition to NATO's costly and deadly wars. Iraq and Afghanistan veterans also took part in the protests, throwing their medals towards the convention center where the delegates were meeting. They said the medals they were given do not represent the wars they were fighting.

THC (marijuana) Helps Cure Cancer Says Harvard Study

Daily News @ http://RevolutionNews.US ~ Researchers at Harvard tested the chemical THC in both lab and mouse studies. They say this is the first set of experiments to show that the compound, THC actually activates naturally produced receptors to fight off lung cancer. The researchers suggest that THC or other designer agents that activate these receptors might be used in a targeted fashion to treat lung cancer. Although a medical substitute of THC, known as Marinol, has been used as an appetite stimulant for cancer patients and other similar treatments, few studies have shown that THC might have anti-tumor activity. *HERE IS THE INTERESTING PART* The only clinical trial testing THC as a treatment against cancer growth was a recently completed British pilot study. For three weeks, researchers injected standard doses of THC into mice that had been implanted with human lung cancer cells, and found that tumors were reduced in size and weight by about 50 percent in treated animals compared to a control group.
