Part 2 of 4: This video goes through the history of scientific understanding about climate change, sound methods of measuring climate in the past and the working process of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change or IPCC. It also explains how 'risk fatigue' can impact how the public perceives climate change as just another alarmist doomsday story. I have also paused it for an editorial at 11:43 because of a vox-pop saying something incredibly stupid. I apologise and it's the only time I'll do it but regardless of what you think about climate change, that guy didn't deserve to get away with how dumb that statement was.

The last three melt seasons represent the 3 lowest summer ice areas in the satellite record. Satellite measurements of total summer ice surface have been on a downward slope for 3 decades. In 2007, ice area suffered a spectacular and unpredicted slump. In the last 2 years, summer expanse rebounded from the catastrophic collapse, to mere precipitous decline.
