The flood crisis continues across Queensland and New South Wales with major flood peaks now moving downstream. Over the next 24-36 hours, the Balonne River in Queensland is expected to rise quite rapidly in St George with a flood peak of 14m possible in coming days - a potential record level for the town. Meanwhile, an active cold-front is pushing across South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania delivering strong to damaging wind gusts across the region. Temperatures are also expected to drop as cool southerly winds surge through behind the passage of the system.
